น. แกงพวกหนึ่ง มีลักษณะคล้ายแกงเผ็ด แต่ไม่ใส่เครื่องเทศ กะทิ หรือ น้ำมัน มีรสเปรี้ยวด้วยน้ำส้มมะขาม ใช้ผัก ผลไม้ หรือ ดอกไม้บางอย่าง เป็นต้น แกงกับกุ้งหรือปลา เรียกชื่อตามสิ่งนั้น ๆ เช่น แกงส้มผักกาดขาว แกงส้มมะละกอ แกงส้มดอกแค.
